Rules

1. Submissions have to be related to games

Video games, tabletop, or otherwise. Posts not related to games will be deleted. This community is focused on games, of all kinds. Any news item or discussion should be related to gaming in some way.

2. No bigotry or harassment, be civil

No bigotry, hardline stance. Try not to get too heated when entering into a discussion or debate. We are here to talk and discuss about one of our passions, not fight or be exposed to hate. Posts or responses that are hateful will be deleted to keep the atmosphere good. If repeatedly violated, not only will the comment be deleted but a ban will be handed out as well. We judge each case individually.

3. No excessive self-promotion

Try to keep it to 10% self-promotion / 90% other stuff in your post history. This is to prevent people from posting for the sole purpose of promoting their own website or social media account.

4. Stay on-topic; no memes, funny videos, giveaways, reposts, or low-effort posts

This community is mostly for discussion and news. Remember to search for the thing you’re submitting before posting to see if it’s already been posted. We want to keep the quality of posts high. Therefore, memes, funny videos, low-effort posts and reposts are not allowed. We prohibit giveaways because we cannot be sure that the person holding the giveaway will actually do what they promise.

5. Mark Spoilers and NSFW

Make sure to mark your stuff or it may be removed. No one wants to be spoiled. Therefore, always mark spoilers. Similarly mark NSFW, in case anyone is browsing in a public space or at work.

6. No linking to piracy

Don’t share it here, there are other places to find it. Discussion of piracy is fine. We don’t want us moderators or the admins of lemmy.world to get in trouble for linking to piracy. Therefore, any link to piracy will be removed. Discussion of it is of course allowed.

    I’m curious what other people’s main gripe is (likely emulation fights?) For my own, it’s when they enacted an assault on Garry’s Mod assets. That domain never did anything to harm their brand and was a source for tons of fan content. Emulation has its murky arguments about capitalism, but going after GMod was just litigation and harm for its own sake.

    i would look at the listing where you bought the product or just use a search engine. apart from that gratz. i like the pico platform. lots to dick around with. most of the big quest exclusives got ported over to pico.

    Monster Train 2 is pretty similar, I'd recommend playing the first game since it gets really cheap on sale. Play the first game without the DLC first (it can be toggled in the settings if you bought it). It changes the balance a lot and makes the game more difficult, so it's more intended for people that are already familiar with the game.

    It becomes effectively, from an emotional standpoint, like their child. It's the same with code. It involves more basic logic than art but it's still creative work imo. Hell, there's even artistic forms of coding.

    Embracer is also splitting into three separate companies to shed the tainted Embracer name, all still owned and run by Wingefors of course. Asmodee Group (for board games) and Coffee Stain Publishing (for indie games) are the only two with official names last I heard. The unnamed third is the big one and Embracer's direct successor, but I guess they're delaying naming it to minimize bad press associated with the name.

    They are the OG indie devs. I still play Atom Zombie Smasher once in 3-4 years (you can get the mods off the dev website).

    terraria added years ago the whole npc favored locations/friendship stuff that enables you to unlock the crystals for fast travel. and being able to get across the map that quickly is just too valuable to me.

    It's a lot of fun. It retains a bit from the other RPG titles but fixes a lot from it too, especially with the Assassin part of it. I really hope Ubisoft takes this and actually gives it's planned sequals some time instead of just going straight to releasing another game a year or two later.

    Jagex Announces New Open World Survival Game: RuneScape: Dragonwilds

    My biggest issue with survival games is usually the lack of a goal. If Jagex treats this game the same way as OSRS or RS3 concerning quests, this could very well be a really nice experience. It could also very well be a very generic survival clone that adds absolutely nothing new to the genre. It's also not the first time Jagex has fucked up games. It often seems like they have absolutely no idea what makes OSRS and RS3 as good as they are, and at least for OSRS, the dedication of the mods seem to be the only reason the game isn't dead. I suppose we'll have to wait and see which direction they take it.

    Monster Hunter Wilds: First Impressions After the Long-Awaited Release

    ADHD review: The best "beginner" MH game 75h on record finished all the main and side mission. The game is extremely convenient in its gameplay loop, auto ride your yoshi to the monster and kick its butt, doesn't matter what weapon you're using. Everything is good, yet you still get rewarded for exploitating elemental/status weaknesses. Very fun with friends. Performance gets better the longer you play. In long: This entry into the series has been the easiest and most fun, but the downside is with that convenience MH is starting to lose its identity as a hunting game. Its less (to none) about tracking a monster setting a trap and hunting it and more about hacking and slashing away until said monster stops moving. The Story - While the combat is pure hype and adrenaline the story telling is like a direct infusion of melatonin. Bogging the first 10~ hours of the game down. (Don't get me wrong this isn't a "after 10 hours the game gets good" kinda deal, the game is instantly good just the story is pesky.) The Performance - Luckily the first title update is planned to be released in 3 days bringing with it massive performance updates (namely the VRAM optimizations), and while this can of worms is way way waaaay to complicated to get into detail now, it's still very much rough around the edges dipping from 60~30 FPS but the game isn't "unplayable" per-say. Someone smarter then me can probably figure this out and explain it better, but as someone who uses a "unsupported" platform (Linux) and has only been doing pretty much plug and play without tinkering I still think that the game is worth playing for its asking price.
