Sweet Jesus, I can well imagine, except for the scale on account of some whales being school bus-sized. Rotten rodents don't hold a candle given the 1000:1 or more ratio. [image: a6bf665c-0479-4434-9b0a-6e9ee7a9cc34.jpeg]

In my first year of university, I had an English professor who went on a long rant about people using apostrophes incorrectly. They said they once had a student put an apostrophe in the word "as", presumably because the s looked lonely. They said these are the people who are gonna be working at the grocery store, writing signs saying "apple's 50% off"

Telling people what they can and can't do. Especially the people that were in higher positions that leave.

i somehow managed to break my previous noise cancelling earbuds and ended up buying Nothing branded ones (CMF buds i think?) and good god it's astounding that i have to say "thank you for just using bleeping sounds to indicate actions". i get that they want it to be obvious what's happening with the device but is it really that hard for people to just cycle through things a few times to memorize what each sound means?

In the AI's defense, it didn't tell you to do it. It just said you can try. Kind of like that uncle we all grew up with if we grew up in the 90s that like could tell you how to do all sorts of illegal shit, but never told you to do the illegal thing. Just said, "Oh yeah, if you wanted to do that, I would do this." Like, if you had just watched a crime movie, the conversation would go to how you would rob a bank and the uncle would whip out some, like, 40-step plan to rob a bank and get away with it involving ATVs and picking the right location and who his accomplices are. But, like, you can, at the same time, you also know the uncle would never do it. He's talking out of his ass, making all this shit up on the fly.

In 1972, 400,000 british people (of 6 million at the time) gave up sugar to boycott slavery. Seventy years later, mill workers of Manchester supported embargo of Confederacy during US civil war by refusing to handle cotton picked by enslaved people. This came at a hefty personal cost as their way of making living depended on it. Abraham Lincoln later acknowledged this show of support. There's statue of him in Manchester. The British abolishment movement was so popular that they had more signatures demanding the end of slavery than the total amount of votes in the last election. Later, at it's peak, something like 25% of the entire British naval budget went towards capturing and freeing slave ships.

I wish i was dilligent enough to do that. Generally, for migration, I use a new hdd for the OS, and mount my previous drive as a documents drive. I also get a separate drive for a full backup. I've been doing this for so long that I have uninterrupted personal files since 1997. However, it requires a good cleanup and organisation of all documents since the previous migration, and I'm too lazy to do it until I'm forced to.
