I don't really blame my Dad for it, he's in a pretty bad spot money-wise. He has to support him, my stepmom, my sister, my two stepsisters PLUS the newborn twins one of them just had, my little brother, my cousin that lives with us, two dogs, a turtle, AND myself whenever I come over. We had so many people living with us at one point he had to set up some new walls and doors in what used to be my little brothers toy room to turn it into two separate bedrooms.
He voted for Trump entirely because of his belief that if he became president again, we would be as financially stable as we were when he was first president. Back when we could afford going on a camping trip twice a year, back when our fridge was regularly stocked with ingredients to make our own lunches, back when he could afford to buy a whole 200$ game console for my birthday, ect. That hasn't ended up happening and every time I get a glimpse at the news he's not any closer to doing that. If my Dad was ever a "Trump supporter" I doubt he is now.
Trump's entire first term economy was good because the stupid shit he is doing now was blocked by the norms that used to exist. He coasted on Obama's recovery till the pandemic.

It’d take some effort to make sure it’s following current tax code however:

You can still use free fillable forms, you can fill out the raw tax forms yourself online and can submit them online there. Not the best UI, it's literally just the forms, but you cut out the middle man so they don't get more money to lobby congress to keep this dumb system going. It's also free if you make more then $85,000 , which alot of the "free" software isn't.

I managed to get to use this last year before Cheeto Mussolini got rid of it. It was simple, straight-forward and free for the basic filings. Of course that fucking twat waffle would get rid of it.

Yeah you can definitely still do it on your own it's just very complicated for anyone who has more than just a job and no investment, property, etc. like a dude with one job who rents an apartment and has nothing else would more than likely have an easy time doing it, the hardest part for them would probably be the mail since no one does physical mail anymore lol

I made decent money so I won’t get the subsidized free service most likely. It’s not that I can’t afford it, it’s just that it’s complete bullshit that they spent the tax money creating a great free tax service and their shelving it to prop up fucking private corporations further. I should not have to pay a second time to a private company to pay my taxes easily. The whole system is fucked. I’m so sick of Trump‘s bullshit. Could’ve done it myself with the free site. Probably going to go with a local tax professional now. If I’m gonna spend money, I’d rather go with a local person than giving money to these fucking websites. Their lobbyists got the IRS website taken down in the first place.
