      God given rights?

Didn't the British leave Britain for America to get away from the church and give themselves their own rights?

Why desensitize a population to something that they should be sensitive about?

Cynically, I think this has already happened. That horse has bolted.

Which is your say, I do agree with your argument, I just think it's already too late to argue it.

Oh trust me, humans can get A LOT worse than now. If you think we're desensitized to violence, just wait until the real civil war kicks off. The Republicans will make you pine for the days where school shootings were the most deplorable form of daily violence...

Just look at Israel, gleefully murdering children just trying to grab fucking food. You call yourself a cynic, but you've no idea the depths of depravity within humanity.

In the Church of England, God's authority is channeled through the monarch, similarly to how in Catholicism it is channeled through the Pope.

If you make a new deal with Him, you can get Him to give you different rights.

No, I oppose it generally. You just either don't understand the arguments or are too dogmatic.

I am willing to bet that if Trump had the military kill everyone who was more dark than a specific shade of white and then nuked California. Your opinion would still be that Biden and Trump are the same.

That you have to invent a strawman proves my point. Their actual policies are about on par with each other. One is just closer to the fascism you’re familiar with.

It's not a straw man. It's a hypothetical. Feel free to answer it when you want.

Also, what do you mean about policies? If Trump didn't change his policies and nuked California, would you then still say that Biden and Trump are equally as bad?

Not just Britain and no. A lot of very religious people fled there because they were persecuted by differently religious people. That’s why the US constitution also protects freedom of religion.

Though the US constitution doesn’t seem to mention the word "god" somewhere.

Something tells me you don't actually understand the difference between a violent campaign and a nonviolent campaign.

Yes, the goals cannot be violent. That doesn't mean violence cannot be extremely useful when applied tactfully.

Nonviolent resistance movements are more likely to facilitate transitions from autocracy to democracy, improve democratic qualities like civil liberties, transform security forces and judicial systems in rights-respecting directions, and enhance well-being measures such as life expectancy.

                      https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S2452292924000365

The commonly held belief that most revolutions that have happened in dictatorial regimes were bloody or violent uprisings is not borne out by historical analysis.

                      https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nonviolent_revolution

Empirical evidence strongly favors strategic, organized nonviolent resistance as the most effective path to sustainable political change.

Political assassinations are a tool of desperation. They're effective at creating instability and further violence; counterproductive for achieving lasting political goals. They fail to eliminate the ideas, movements, and structures that person represented.

I’m getting pretty fucking sick of seeing this ‘no one should be killed for their political beliefs’ take going around.

He wasn’t killed for his beliefs. He was killed because he dedicated his life to terrorizing everyone who isn’t a conservative white man, and was materially supporting state violence in the pursuit of white supremacy.

That is 100% something we have firmly established that people should be shot for, in multiple wars throughout the last few centuries.

@surph_ninja @jballs How exactly did Charlie Kirk "terrorize" anyone? It was just words, dude! Dramatic much? Charlie Kirk engaged in dialogue. He welcomed conversation, even when he disagreed. He was killed because he called out the lunacy of our culture.

I feel like I am living in the story of The Emperors New Clothes and the people who actually call out the stupidity are being made fun of...and killed now. You need to get a grip on reality.

Lol! Fantastic. This is wonderful thank you so much for commenting.

So the big argument is cars and alcohol? Brilliant. Because when was the last time someone walked into a classroom holding a Toyota Corolla in one hand and a bottle of vodka in the other?

Cars exist to get people from point A to point B. Alcohol exists to drink. Guns exist to kill. That is the design. Pretending they are all the same is a false equivalence.

We also happen to lead the world in school shootings and active shooters. Canada, which looks a whole lot like us culturally and legally, manages fewer gun deaths per capita. Maybe the problem is not cars or booze. Maybe the problem is metal health. Because guns at the end of the day are just tools used by humans.

@surph_ninja a hitlist? He may have named people he felt were contributing to the rot of this nation, but you show me proof that he ever called for a hit or for people to do anything more than speak against the issues.

Lol!

@mechoman444 Guns do more than kill. They are used for sport as well. But I would agree that killing is their main purpose. They are simply tools. People use all manner of tools to kill people. I would rather address the hatred and desire to kill. Then the tools would not be used.
