How many of you use Lemmy and ONLY use Lemmy vs Reddit?

I maintain a reddit account linked to a burner email so that I can occasionally ask questions that I can't find the answer too elsewhere. Other than that the only social media I use is Lemmy.
wrote last edited by [email protected]they found all my accts and banned while not even violating any ban evaders, they decided that AI was good enough to MODERATE. usually people were able to use a different accounts and avoid posting on a sub that was hit with subreddit ban, now they look at all your accts for that. also once you get temp ban, all your accounts on the same IP are most likely flagged if they arnt banned immediately.

It is not hardcore i'd actually advise anyone to limit its media following for its own mental health.
I never feel better than on vacation during which I barely check news and internetwhen i was on reddit, was addicted to it. i do stay on it occasionally to look up some posts, but since i cant engage because of bans i move on quickly. right now im looking at old posts jury duty, because i got one coming up. no community here yet.

only use lemmy. This is like my 6th account, and instance hop. Definitely a system that works better for me.
new to lemmy. what is the significance of instance hopping or multiple accounts on this platform?
when some instances becomes to extreme, like politically, ie tankie instances or show too much censorship. plus lemmy.ee is shutting down soon too. you want to switch to a different instance.

Lemmy only. Reddit has become some strange mix of Quora and X or something like that at this point.

It’s weird even a few months backI would see vastly more overt racism here than on reddit. I looked at a few subs in reddit’s all recently and the overt racism got intense fast.
which communities and instances? the only ones i see are the political ones that are causing this issue, this includes the tankie ones. i blocked those. Reddit bans people more readily thats why you dont see it as much, but reddit still has much more propaganda-racist posts than here.

yup , also communities on reddit are not on here and niches that are exclusive to certain genre.

My 10+ year old account with high karma was perma banned overnight I got into an argument with a power tripping rad left mod. I'm left leaning politically, however if you arent rad left on Reddit then youre a fascist. They love that echo chamber. Honestly one of the best thibgs to ever happen to me. Reddit is bad for your mental health. And their power tripping mods are pretty much nazis
ive seen alot more right wingers than "left" almost anything left is astroturfed on reddit, which subs are seeing it in?.

Have been here well over a year now and can confidently say the majority of lemmy users are left, not rad left. Wanting basic human rights for all isn't a radical idea, thinking gay people should have the right to get married isn't a radical idea, wanting teans folks to have their medical needs met isn't a radical idea

the radical/tankies probably got banned on reddit for a good reason spamming and non-sensical posting, attacking other people, much like conservatives are doing on reddit.

it was glaringly obvious reddit was allow propaganda bots to fester on reddit for quite some time, even palintir is making headways in the site.
That is correct but also only half of the story.
Reddit shut down dissenting voices which is huge in thought control. They shut down alternate apps, making poor people gobble up propaganda. The awards system, popularity contests, etc
Thats not all of it but definitely enough to not touch it with a ten foot pole.

Lemmy has like 0 discussion about anything not technical or not related to American politics so have to peruse reddit now and then

I also dont want to see it morph into Reddit though. I can see people posing Reddit style questions to try and boost engagement with others.
I don’t mind the posts of news/interes articles however they are often links that are either add or I have 50 cookies to block, so I dont bother. There is not usually much in terms of replies on these post types.That really speaks more about the state of the internet rather than a lemme thing.

I am trying to figure my happy space here. I don’t want it to be like the other places I left, however I miss some of there qualities, odd visits to insta. I really miss a good visual feed.I also miss marketplace too. I like to recycle and it was good for that.

Largely the political subs and Im not certain that reddit has proportionately less propaganda.

FB is ostly AI, and right wing content. i never thought of using that site due to that. and some younger people that use that site still before tiktok, were low-key stalking people
