A metaphor for capitalism?
-
Majority rule don't work in mental institutions

Your problem is that you didn't present just a critique of Socialism, you veered into praising Capitalism unnecessarily (which means a new system was introduced uncritically).
The metaphor for socialism would be that the one party controls the means of production, and that under true socialism there'd be a pile of dead spiders (heros and villains of the revolutionary period), and the web (which defines this epoch's age of technology) would escape the glass.
Possibly the most educated spider from the party's politburo would be able to step out of the glass... They would then climb into the next glass and try to foment a revolution there.
But all of the above is still dealing in an archiac propagandists ghost of 1950s Socialism (which wasn't even like that to begin with)... And many parts of it are in fact a better critique of modern Capitalism with its industrial powerhouses forming monopolies and cartels interoperating with governments, and the culture industry to press people into further wealth disparity and corrupt democracy until it simulates a one party set of state Capitalist values.
Jesus. It's a fuckin spider in a glass and you just turned into a thesis lol.

That’s a half truth at best
This thread is wild

Pretty sure what we already do to collect spider silk on an industrial scale is worse than this.
ok, hear he out, we make the cup so it's tall enough for them to make silk to escape, but short enough so it's only a mild inconvenience for them. less labour than current system and easier in the spiders.
problem is we don't get a long single thread but just bundles of nets which can be spun into threads.
-
look at you, feeling superior because you think you can outsmart a spider.
next time you fall into a well i expect you to shit silk in an efficient way to escape
-
Well, which one of us died mismanaging their web placement?
and only one of you can shit silk
-
Or a metaphor for socialism... lacking the economic freedom to buy more silk, the spider couldn't escape an artificially designed system run by a central authority that didn't predict this scenario, because it isn't feasible for a central authority to predict every scenario.
Or maybe, given that the looks like the glass is outside on the ground so maybe the spider was put into the glass on purpose to make the photo? So the spider was sent to a gulag to die because it wasn't ideologically pure enough.
Or maybe it's just a spider in a glass and you can stretch a metaphor in any direction you want.
whatever drug you're on, do not drive or operate heavy machinery.

Do we collect spider silk on an industrial scale?
I remember seeing something about genetically modifying goats such that they would produce the proteins in spider silk in their milk, so the milk could be processed and then silk could be mechanically spun. This is a half-remembered TV documentary from years and years ago, so.

Last time this was posted, the some answers said it's actually likely a nest (funnel web spider or something?) and the "dead spider" shed skin.
So the metaphor for capitalism is... The Rich carry on eating the produce of the Poor, while the socialists look on and think the system is dying? Haha! Checkmate Poors!

wrote on last edited by [email protected]It's four paragraphs dude. Actually due to the poor quality writing it's really just six run on sentences.

There's a letter towards the end of his life where he speculates about Russia, specifically, skipping the capitalist stage because of cultural reasons.
Arising from a capitalist and industrial system is less of a requirement and more of what he considers to be the most likely scenario. You could, for example, in theory have a peasant revolution but you'd either need to attract industrial expertise to modernize your factories or reinvent a lot of wheels.
And, of course, Marxism isn't the only socialism.
Marx is kinda hilarious, bad father, vaguely antisemitic, bet on the stock market. Funny guy. I love that conservatives are so freaked out by him.

Y’all know that spiders can climb right?
And that spiders often make webs that look like this? Famously, funnel spiders?

I'm not gonna argue with you because you're a lost loser, but for the rest of users reading this person's comments: this is a genocide denier asking questions such as "why do you consider the Israel-Hamas conflict a genocide?". This is what the defence of capitalism leads to.
If you're sad about the "intimidation tactics", it's very easy: stop siding with the Nazis!
Unwilling to have discussion indicates you're afraid you might be wrong about things and discussion may bring that to light.
People who have thought through their positions aren't afraid to discuss them. I could be wrong about some things, but if that's the case then and a discussion brings that out, I can change my position, and then I hold stronger positions on issues.
Propagandists that are just repeating slogans are afraid to discuss the topics they supposedly care about passionately. If discussions bring to light their slogans are wrong, then that decreases their standing within their movement which is just a tribal group. The goal of the propagandist isn't to further a cause it's only to show loyalty to the tribe and increase their standing.
So go ahead and throw insults at me to prove your loyalty to the tribe. It only proves you're incapable of growing your movement because you're incapable of having a rational discussion. If you're constantly promoting feelings of hatred to impress the political group you're in, consider the possibility that you might be in a hate group.

No, it means there's nothing to argue in good faith with zionazis. Heard of the Nazi bar problem?

Yes lemmy indeed has a bit of a Nazi bar problem, with all the antisemitism that gets posted here unchallenged.
