Tenet frustrated me. You could tell that there was a good movie there but the sound mixing was horrible and the execution was lacking.

While I agree with you, I have heard two things that I think are important to know.

    1. The early pirated versions were especially horrible, as the audio was mixed for the big screen.

    2. Intentionally muddying the dialogue is a well known movie technique. Often used in scenes or situations where the actual spoken words aren't important. For example, I remember seeing an old movie once where this guy is dumping his GF down by the docks, and most of his words are inaudible due to fog horns from ships, and his (ex)GF covers her ears. Where Nolan failed was that in that fog horn example it's obvious that it's intentional. In Tenet, on the other hand, the masqing audio is usually part of the soundtrack, so it just sounds like an awful mix. Tenet made me adjust volume constantly because I felt I was missing something. I liked the movie, though. Except that scene didn't even closely resemble Oslo airport.

I also wish Nolans movies did not have such an insanely wide dynamic audio range. First you're listening to actual important dialog, then your windows shatter from the sound of movie gunshots.

Try watching his SNL appearances and his role in Get Shorty. He’s a decent actor he just chooses wooden roles because it is most profitable for him.

Edit: Be Cool not Get Shorty.

        This gave new an idea.

Donald currently enjoys erasing history - rewriting slavery, removing BIPOC accomplishments, etc. What if we start removing him from old media? Re-record a version of that movie that didn’t have Trump in it, erase old copies of The Apprentice, etc.

Or just cut out the scene from the existing movie and start spreading the edit via bittorrent.

I saw it as an AMC A-List subscriber diring COVID twice as the only person in the theater. I sat in the best seat in a place that had redone theor soubd system 1 year before and it was rough.

Im not sure there are better circumstances to view it in for the average person.

You show you are confused by the last line in your post. Why would you think this would need tocome from the clergy given your history of fundie christianity? Were you in one of the weird ones that doesn't evangelize?

No, its because he doesn't know what he's talking about.

              Has he gone to seminary?

              Has he been ordained?

Is he certified in any kind of theological field?

To my knowledge, no, he isn't.

He's no different from any other celeb promoting any other thing which they barely understand, like Madonna with Kabala.

I find it weird precisely because I would be more inclined to listen to an actual expert over a popular, pretty face.

              ...

I am not confused in the sense of 'why would he do this?'

Thats easy: He is being performatively, publically Christian, which ironically, is something you can find scripture to tell you that that's not a thing you should be doing.

              ...

But what is a Protestant doing promoting Lent, anyway?

Its fucking wierd, it would be like Marky Mark promoting Mormon diet restrictions.

Very, very rare to see any kind of ecumenism coming from American Protestant Christians, they usually hate the fuck out of Catholics, or just barely tolerate them, call them polytheists and the Church of The Beast after the Catholics have left the room.

…maybe one exception: I was able to talk her into seeing Edge of Tomorrow by telling her that he dies 26 times on-screen and countless times off-screen.

I apologise if this seems inappropriate, but I kinda like your wife now. And you for putting that argument up in the first place.

For example, I don't like Will Ferrell in his typical roles. Oh they just drive me batty.

But. I do love Stranger Than Fiction. It's such a cozy movie.

Thomas middleditch, the dude makes my skin crawl. Silicon valley is the only thing I've been able to watch with him, but when he's just on talk shows or being himself i have to skip past. Skeevy is the word that comes to mind.

Leo DiCaprio. No exceptions. The movies he's been in that I've enjoyed were enjoyed despite him and not because of him.

His entire approach to a character is to put on an over-the-top accent and call it a day. I've never had the sense that any of his characters were the actual character and weren't just "Leo with an accent". I'll be fair and say that he has improved in recent years, with movies like The Revenant being tolerable.

But holy shit, how his career went anywhere when people saw his "acting" in Titanic and especially Romeo and Juliet, is mind-boggling to me.

He's from Foxboro which isn't that close to Boston.

Also as an aside most people do terrible Boston accents and pronounce the city as "BAW-Ston" in said terrible accent. It should be "BAA-ston"

He was born and raised in Dorchester which is a stones throw from Boston. And even still, people in Foxboro absolutely have "the accent".

Tom Cruise is weird for me because I hate the man but he's a good actor and a great action star and sells pretty much every role he's in.
