Sit time doesn’t make a difference for my hair so it’s solely down to how much warm water I want and how tired I am (I’m an afternoon-evening showerer).

Humanity May Achieve the Singularity Within the Next 12 Months, Scientists Suggestabout 11 hours agoHowever, not everyone thinks AGI is a dead certainty. Some experts argue that human intelligence is more multifaceted than what the current definition of AGI describes. For example, some AI experts think of the human mind in terms of eight intelligences, of which “logical-mathematical” is just one (alongside it exists, for example, interpersonal, intrapersonal, and existential intelligence). Deep learning pioneer Yann LeCun thinks AGI should be rebranded to “advanced machine intelligence,” and argues that human intelligence is too specialized to be replicable. The report also suggests that, while AI can be an important tool in making new discoveries, it can’t make these discoveries on its own.
This is more realistic.

Are there any common household items or products that you think are designed incredibly poorly?a day agoAll of this has been solved in the last 5-10 years honestly. Thermoflask style bottles have gaskets that are easily removable and dishwasher safe. Brumate makes a strawed bottle that is magnetic, comes apart for cleaning, and is dishwasher safe. Yeti style have magnetic closers, are dishwasher safe, and easy to clean. Most of the really good ones are expensive but worth it.

Are there any common household items or products that you think are designed incredibly poorly?a day agoEh, we live in an arid climate and have a whole house humidifier which gets the air from the single digits to the 30s. We have another ultrasonic for the bedroom to keep the bloody noses down. It’s not that hard to find one that is easy to clean (has a large hand sized hole in the reservoir). Also, any spray like Scrubbing bubbles makes it super easy to clean to squeaky every 2 weeks. Who the hell would use vinegar, that would smell awful!

Are there any common household items or products that you think are designed incredibly poorly?a day agoYou’re missing that the wine industry kind of loves traditions. That’s mainly why we still have the bottle design we do.

Has anyone used Nano Hydroxyapatite Toothpaste / Dental Products?3 days agoThat’s a pretty good summary. It seems the most effective solution is just ditching the manual toothbrush for an automatic, that is going to brush much more effectively.

USA: When do you file your taxes?7 days agoAs soon as everything has reported (I don’t wait for it to come in the mail). We generally file as early as allowed. We’ve already gotten our Federal refund back. Now state, this one takes AGES, probably won’t see it till April sadly.

Tech's Dumbest Mistake: Why Firing Programmers for AI Will Destroy Everything12 days agoThe CEO and C Suite are the least important people in a company. They can be changed out with relatively little interruption and it takes a lot longer to see the effects. However, you have a on the ground workforce stop producing and the effects are immediate and long lasting.

China is quietly pushing ahead with massive 50,000Mbps broadband rollout to leapfrog rest of the world on internet speeds20 days agoNot to mention the server is the bottleneck at that point. I have access to 2.5Gb/2.5Gb but only pay for 500/500 because, even that is faster than most servers, and of course all the mobile devices aren’t pushing more than 400 on WiFi.
