Glad to hear I'm not the only one not interested in stimulants, for similar reasons. Although i can top it off with caffeine doing very little for me except in excessive amounts. Now if i could just actually get scheduled for an evaluation with a psychologist for formal diagnosis...

Grapefruit juice. Always and for ever. (disclaimer: DO NOT take meds with grapefruit juice as it can have a massive effect on how fast your body absorbs the medication...) ... Though I bring it up to point out that the "best" meals will be extremely basic and uncomplicated foods. I'd avoid most things, if it's important meds that need to remain in balance. If it says you do not need to take it on a full stomach, I'd avoid food around such times. I hope a biologist/biochemist/etc can chime in on what foods are least likely to directly fuck with meds, since as far as I remember, a ton of it is about simply buffering out the meds with filler and digestion time, which a lot of food should fit.

Did you get diagnosed recently? It's now very hard to find a therapist or psychiatrist for treatment with a "Kassensitz", even when already diagnosed. For diagnostic, it was truly hopeless; however, I should be able to switch to a psychiatrist within 6 months and a therapist within 9 months when I really try. 5 or 10 years ago, it was much easier. With a therapist, people wait many months, and if it turns out to be a bad fit, the wait starts all over. The many contradicting experiences are just chance, I think. For example for my kid, I did ONE single call and got an appointment for ADHD diagnostic within 4 months. But I am fully aware that this is was very lucky. For his occupational therapy, I did about 10 calls, until I found one who is just opening a new practice, which was also very lucky. Paid 0 out of pocket for very good treatment. If you say it can get better than that, you are lying. My own experience was the other extreme so far, but you are right that it is absolutely possible to get it paid for on insurance IF already diagnosed.

Distraction, suppressing, or numbing can work temporarily, to really process your emotions is better. Breathe in deep. Close your eyes. Feel into your body. Every emotion manifests physically as well: tension, tingling, tremors, heat, etc. Stay with the physical sensation. Breathe into the sensation. Express the physical feeling through sound and movement. Other options: Beat up a pillow artistic expression: music, painting, writing journal cup your hands to close your mouth and scream dance to music that fits your emotion tl;dr actually feel and express your emotion for a bit

Nice! My GP listens, takes time and does the extra mile for me. Despite my crappy insurance that pays him very little for it. But sometimes I blame him for not catching the ADD earlier. He prescribed me benzos as early as 2009 when things were repeatedly getting "too much" in every job or relationship after a couple of months. On the other hand, when he finally did refer me to a psychiatrist, he didn't catch it either.

Bone conduction headphones, music of your choice. Only you can hear the music, and you can still hear everyone else around you as your ears aren't covered.

I'm on 36 mg ER. I drink 3-6 drinks a week with no ill effects. You should be fine with some scotch. If anything odd happens, counsel with your doctor on it. I would also say it's a bit of a wasted pill as being inebriated kinda defeats the purpose of trying to feel "normal", and the more you frequently you take these you slowly build up your resistance to them so keep that in mind. I try to take breaks on the weekends at least. That's just my experience.

I've noticed that I tend to remember the first and last things someone says. If I have a throwaway thought, I generally put it in the middle, or else I decide not to mention it.

I'm currently sitting with 11 other people (6 of that kids) in a holiday apartment duplex that is one block away from the one I thought I was booking. That one has a grill for two dozen people, a massive playground with several slides, a rope castle, and a pool. The one I actually booked has two small swings and a slide, ten small wasp nests (which we were able to destroy, thankfully) and a leaky dishwasher. I called myself every expletive known to me when I found out like you have (and I am very knowledgeable about those), but everybody is fine and the kids are having the time of their life. It'll work out somehow.

Yes I get that sometimes too! I like your explanation because I had been struggling to explain. I generally just need to sit in silence or something at that point and give myself space to readjust. Definitely tell your doctor if you are feeling good and if the meds are lasting long enough for you right now. Speaking up for yourself is important to make sure you are getting what you need, not what someone else assumes you need. You could always increase the dose later down the line if you need to.

This is the right approach if your goal is to change people’s minds. Reasoned, fact-supported, logical debate is valuable, and I respect that. There is no need to shame individual creators for how they choose to explore their ideas or make use of available tools. I do not agree with every point you raised, but I think these are serious concerns worth discussing. That includes issues like corporate influence, data usage, and environmental impact. I am always open to that kind of conversation when it is grounded in good faith.
