The original was the first film I watched at the cinema so hearing at least lightly positive reviews was enough to get me to see it today. I'm pretty much in agreement with the reviews, at the very least an entertaining film but not much more, which is entirely what I expected and wanted

Either go all in, or don't. And since it's usually difficult to get everyone using the accents right, I tend to prefer not. It's easier to dismiss their accents, than have a character suddenly show up and be unable to do the accent. It's like Keanu Reeves in Dracula. Hearing him say "blue inferno" in that terrible British accent makes me laugh, and it's not supposed to be funny.

Apparently it's because the movie was one of the last real sci-fi movies done practically instead of with copy and paste CGI, and so they're one of the last sets of armor you could fit a squad of sci-fi goons with.

I think the issue might be the word "liberal". In any case, I felt it was a bit of a lost cause, so I just added that line. I didn't think it would be make today mainly due to the context. The desire of 1985 to be like 1955 is very different from the desire of 2025 to be like 1995.

Heads of State - generic but fun popcorn flick. To me it has some identity issues though. Like at times it feels like it's trying to be a more serious movie than it is and then other times goes extreme in the other direction to almost slapstick.
