Very interesting what you say about "Freedom to" and "Freedom from", it makes me clearer about many things. Well, when I said "Labor Freedom" I was referring more to freelance work, but it is true that with a good union it is possible to achieve more freedom in salaried jobs, I had not thought about it, thanks.

The spark plug example is popular because presumably you find both old sparkplugs and spare car windows at junk yards. What it really is that the ceramic that they're made out of hard and sharp enough when broken to damage the surface of the glass which causes the chain reaction.

No, nazis did it because political opposition against them, socialists and communists, were real opposition. And even Strasserists and Rohm posed a real threats of wresting the control over party from him. Trump does not have to do anything because opposition against his government, both in his party and outside it, is illusory and performative. And their praxis looks like that: [image: 9b222c70-11d7-415c-9c8d-3c84bbd7de25.png] [image: c8eebf18-5a88-40ab-a7fd-e104713ab8ac.png]

I made this mistake too when I figured out I had ADHD. I had a shiny new hammer to fix all my problems with, and EVERYTHING was a nail. And I really liked showing off my shiny new hammer to explain why I was trying to hammer all these nails. People didn't like it very much. I was being obnoxious. I know I was. I knew it at the time too, but still couldn't stop myself. Our culture right now does not favor talking about mental health in any capacity, and I think part of that comes from shame for some people ("on no, what if I'm similar and have it?"), and for other people its just a frustrating change in routine ("oh God am I going to have to listen to this every day from now on, and change how I do things to boot?") - it becomes extra burden in their eyes. The trick is masking. It's always masking. It sucks that we have to mask, but masking unfortunately works. Don't talk about your issues, or if you do only do it once with any particular group of people. On the flipside, it's still important to be yourself. Find a good group who you don't have to wear the mask around and spend as much time with them as you can, so you can deal with the times you do.

Personally, I do not have any automatism to detect LLMs larping as people. But I do review accounts that follow or interact with mine, and if I find any that are bots, I'll enact counter measures. That may involve reporting them to their server admin (most instances don't take kindly to such bots), blocking their entire instance, or in extreme cases, start serving them garbage interactions.

Didnt stop using that one but i rather play game than read text. also prefer going down memory lane with the friend by recalling the convos together and laugh about it lol

Easy Mode: Definitely 2 of my favorite Weird Al songs that I don't really hear people ever talk about: Don't Download This Song, and Virus Alert. Hard Mode: I don't listen to non-Weird Al parody songs anymore and haven't since late middle school to early highschool, so I got none in my head anymore.

You're embarking on a very deep literature journey! I'm aware that the most common form of male and female infertility is rooted in insulin resistance. PCOS, and ED. Ben Bikman covers female infertility https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CZCDl1NPk6g And male infertility https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZgH1qsZKZs8 I posted my notes from this lecture on Lemmy https://hackertalks.com/post/5634787 What to do about insulin resistance? The fastest way to resolve insulin resistance is to not eat any sugar or carbs (a ketogenic diet). Eat a nutritionally complete diet (use something like cronometer to map it out), and you should see fast improvements in a few weeks/months. Happy to provide more references and guides on request, just let me know how technical you want them to be.

Thanks for linking the Red Sails article, I've finally gotten around to reading it. Interestingly, while the work critiques even the title of Manufacturing Consent, it provides a similar sense of fulfillment to Manufacturing Consent by providing a material, non-conspiratorial explanation to a more-or-less 'common sense' phenomenon (media control, brainwashing). In a way, the premise and conclusion echo some wisdom I'd heard before, albeit in a different context: It's not enough to be right. While that speaker had basically meant that theory is useless if it is never applied, and only used as an "I told you so" after-the-fact, this article makes a related case, that the correctness of an idea doesn't automatically mean it will be accepted by a typical healthy person. And as someone who veers towards a more academic and scientific side of life, where correctness is so valued and there's an expectation that everyone in the scene is on the same page about basic fundamental facts, the brainwashing framework is a convenient and intuitive (even if false) rationalization of why so many people can be so ignorant to these basics (like flat earth theory, anti-germ theory, that level of ignorance). It really is hard to empathize and not be condescending to people in relatively-advanced countries in the modern age still believing that kind of thing. The brainwashing theory is convenient - they've been dupped by a cult leader! the [religion/government] wants to keep them ignorant and encircled them with a false reality! they've been conditioned to be dumb since birth! This explains it! But that only goes so far, there is a point where a person has enough access to information that the brainwashing theory fails to justify their rejection of evidence. I know first hand, like many, that it takes time to dismantle the propaganda pervading our liberalist status quo, but it's not magical or hypnotic.

No. They don't just paste the contents of the book into the subtitles, they transcribe the dialogue and sfx just like they do for original shows. It would be pretty crappy if a deaf/HoH person wanted to experience a movie like normal but the accessibility features were repurposed for speed reading. Also I brush after breakfast

The lack of specificty is also a strategy used to bolster support for deregulation. Simply say "we are eliminating regulations" , and dont ever talk about what you are deregulating, because actually many regulations are a net good for society and were implemented for a reason. Preventing companies from dumping poison is a regulation.
